Cat Lau

I am a former behavioural neuroscientist who realized that my calling was at the intersection of art, science and community engagement. Since switching gears, I have been visually communicating science in accessible ways for different audiences.

Besides researchers and scientists, I have collaborated alongside people with lived experiences, youth, family/carers, and community organizations to create resources and support initiatives to mobilize their knowledge and expertise.

I am also a strong advocate for art and science collaborations and evaluated a pilot science-art residency which was published (open access) in Frontiers in Education.

When I am not creating, you can find me exploring nature (via bicycle, hikes, camping), singing and playing music, or cuddling cats.

I respectfully acknowledge the unceded Indigenous lands which I reside on. This territory, Tiohtià:ke, has long served as a gathering place for many First Nations, including the Kanien’kehá of the Haudenosaunee Confederacy, Huron/Wendat, Abenaki, and Anishinaabeg. As a settler, and a child of the Chinese diaspora, I recognize my privileges and will continue to reflect upon and learn more about how I can support Indigenous sovereignty.
